Profile Summary

I am a highly motivated, passionate and outgoing IT professional from a software consultancy background, with several years' experience. My experience includes web front-end development in HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3 and ASP.NET, in a Scrum (Agile) environment.

After 15 years in IT consultancy - (1989 - 2004), I set up and ran an ecommerce business for 9 years (2004 - 2013); I designed, developed & managed the company's websites myself using HTML, CSS and Javascript. The company went into liquidation in July 2013, and I have found myself working in Customer Services. To get myself back into corporate IT, I passed the MCSD 70-480 exam in HTML5/CSS3/Javascript in March 2014 (with a score of 953/1000), and I am now studying towards the MCSD 70-483 exam in C#, to be followed by the MCSD 70-486 exam in ASP.NET MVC 4. I thoroughly enjoy programming, and I am looking for a job as a front-end developer.

I am well organised and able to work well under pressure. I have very good oral and written communication skills, and I am a great liaison between business & technical teams. I communicate well with all levels of management up to board level. I am a great team player, go-to person and team leader, and I am able to manage my own time as well as others' to meet tight deadlines.

Since the liquidation of the business of Chellgrove Limited in July 2013, I have worked in temporary customer services roles with Amazon and IKEA through recruitment agencies. I did these roles while studying to take the MCSD 70-480 Exam in HTML5/Javascript/CSS3:

I set up Chellgrove in 2004 and ran it for 9 years. Chellgrove was an online retailer of office furniture.

I led the design, development and maintenance of 5 eCommerce retail websites for the company following Agile and Scrum principles. These websites had significant marketing and user experience content, and we had started to look at .NET technologies. I was Scrum Product Owner as well as a member of the 3-man Development Team.

I also managed the digital agencies and other third-parties that provided services such as Search Engine Optimisation. The programming languages and platforms that I used directly were HTML4 / HTML5, Javascript / jQuery, CSS2 / CSS3, and some SQL Server & ASP .NET 4.5 (C#) in Visual Studio 2010 & 2012. I followed good principles for test-driven development (TDD), version control, and SEO.

We were a small development team and we adopted some Agile principles. I am an Agile advocate and I have read the Scrum Guide (from and signed the Agile Manifesto.

I managed some pre-sales activities such as bids and RFQs, and I managed project teams on large software development programmes for client sites all over the UK and in Hong Kong.

I have managed various phases of the software development lifecycle including business cases, project scoping & planning, project structuring, progress & exception reporting, acceptance testing, and project sign-off / handover. I prepared and presented feasibility studies, and I facilitated business requirements gathering workshops and project acceptance criteria workshops with senior client management. I was also involved in designing process change into some large business transformation projects.

As Quality Assurance Manager (1997-1998) I helped to improve the company's projects and business units through quality assurance reviews and quality audits. I also took part in commercial audits and successfully took a line of business through external quality audits performed by LRQA.
